T O P I C R E V I E WChaitalyHello everybody, maybe someone has already asked this question... I'm curious about: how do you interpret intercepted houses and their lord(s) in a natal chart?Let's say in a natal chart we see the 11th house in Virgo and the 12th house cusp is in Virgo too. How would Mercury rule two such different houses?Or the cusps of 6th and 7th house both in Aries. Does it mean that Mars rules both houses? If you (professional astrologer) are reading a natal chart, how do you read this? How does it affect the person when one planet is the lord of multiple houses (2 or 3)? What do you tell to the client? And how could it show its effects in real life? Hope it's an interesting question!! Thank you!Aries23DegreesThere are articles on this subject. My understanding is that if there is a double emphasis on a sign/respective ruler etc. It could mean the native will have to learn to exercise those traits associated with that sign/ruler. So if Aries-Libra is emphasized, self assertion and learning to work with others.Taurus-Scorpio , accumulation of security and learning to let go of things that don't matterGemini-Sagittarius, sharing knowledge but continuosly studying etc. Some people don't believe in intercepted houses, some do. It depends on the author of the article. ChaitalyDo you recommend any article in particular? quote:Originally posted by Aries23Degrees:Some people don't believe in intercepted houses, some do. So u need to draw ur own conclusions.Google intercepted houses, some things may pop up. I personally think there could be merit to it.Intercepted Aries may have one not be able to take charge or be the type who speculates/ daydreams a lot, but take no action. When they do, it goes towards burnout.Libra intercepted may mean being unable to either see oneself as an equal to others or seeing others as unequal to you. This leads to a servant-master type of relation, treating others as your servants or seeing yourself as a servant to others.Kannon McAfee quote:Originally posted by Chaitaly:Hello everybody, maybe someone has already asked this question... The one you've used to start this thread is sign-based. It assumes that each house cusp 'should' have a different sign over the cusp. Such assumptions seem to create other weird notions in many people's minds. Like it is unusual for a birth chart to not have a different sign over each cusp, therefore something must be amiss.Interception is a term borrowed from geometry and often distorted when applied to the chart. It has nothing to do with signs, but with interception of an arc -- a whole arc by an angle. Here is a good page to read right here on LL where I explain this with references and illustrations: http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum24/HTML/227867.html ------------------The Declinations Guy> Expert birth chart rectification> Rising Sign Descriptions♈ ♉ ♊ ♋ ♌ ♍ ♎ ♏ ♐ ♑ ♒ ♓MoonMysticBoth my Aquarius houseand Leo are swallowed upby the signs Taurus/Scorpio.(Matter of fact I readsomething relating to these2 signs relationshipto Egypt. It makes sense, my first house if flooded with Egyptian asteroidsand fixed stars.)Maybe you can better study the signs missing as well theexcess energy your chart carries. As far as spiritually, therecould even be a theme. Habitsand shortcomings in life arewhat most astrologers study. One book I read, IDR the book, exclaimed what lessons we getfrom these intercepted houses. It was pretty accurate for me, II'm great at beginning but I failto follow through. I'm improvingthough!I read mine (although I'm fairlynew to this) as a blend of energy. For instance I have Sun, Moon Aquabut they sit in the house ruledby Capricorn. This levels out some of my flighty behavior, dueto the Earth energy (I'm lessTinkerbell and more Tigerlily). I have yet to learn more. RandallBump!StubbornVirgoHere's an example of intercepted signs. Ignore the SR part - pay attention to the "inner" circle. I have Virgo-Pisces axis intercepted in my 1st and 7th house. Consequently, both my 4th and 5th house cusps fall in Gemini and my 10th and 11th house cusps fall in Sagittarius. I used to be more interested in the intercepted houses/signs, but I've found that the interpretation varies widely depending on the astrology. Some astrologers lean more towards the idea that because the whole sign is "locked" in a house, that those qualities are harder to "access" or that they're blocked in some way. I have 3 planets in Virgo - it's safe to say that those qualities are not locked away but very apparent. Pisces in my 1st is more of a mystery, however. I do not look like a Pisces ASC - I do have watery characteristics, but this is more closely aligned with Pluto in Scorpio square my ASC.No quoting please.

My understanding is that if there is a double emphasis on a sign/respective ruler etc. It could mean the native will have to learn to exercise those traits associated with that sign/ruler.
So if Aries-Libra is emphasized, self assertion and learning to work with others.
Taurus-Scorpio , accumulation of security and learning to let go of things that don't matter
Gemini-Sagittarius, sharing knowledge but continuosly studying etc.

Intercepted Aries may have one not be able to take charge or be the type who speculates/ daydreams a lot, but take no action. When they do, it goes towards burnout.
Libra intercepted may mean being unable to either see oneself as an equal to others or seeing others as unequal to you. This leads to a servant-master type of relation, treating others as your servants or seeing yourself as a servant to others.
